COPING with COPD - Breathing Techniques

Pursed lip breathing is difficult to master when you are first diagnosed with COPD and hard to remember in a panic situation. It has saved my life many times over, and I would like to offer a suggestion. From history, I remember the Nez Perce (pronounced nez purse) Indian tribe, noted for its constant friendship and getting along with all. In French, nez perce, means pierced nose. If you can remember to take deep breaths through your “nez” and expel slowly saying “pursed” you get an easy rhythm. Try and it and remember the good old movies.
